On Windows, the cost of the panel
A business laptop screen is usually a standard, widely available part. A high refresh gaming panel or a touch screen on a convertible is a more expensive fix, which decides whether repair makes sense.
Getting it home safely
Close a cracked laptop gently and do not press on the panel. Glass can spread a crack, and a laptop that also stops booting is a different conversation on a Windows machine.
