The Predator is Acer's serious gaming line, the step up from the Nitro. It gets the bigger cards, more power to run them and the cooling to go with it, and it is priced in the same company as Legion, ROG and Omen.
The Helios Neo is the one we see most. The Neo 16 comes with an RTX 4060 or 4070, and the compact Neo 14 with a 4070. Any other Predator is priced on its card, up to the RTX 5070 Ti at the top of what we buy.

What affects your offer.
RTX tier
A Predator with a 5070 Ti is one of the top machines we buy, and one with a 3060 is a few generations behind it. The card puts it in its bracket before anything else is considered.
Size versus card
The Helios Neo 14 fits a 4070 into a small body, and the Neo 16 gives the same card more room. Buyers look at both, and the calculator prices each by model.
Thermals and fans
Predators can push a lot of heat, and their fans are loud when the heatsinks are clogged. A Predator that runs a game without throttling grades well.
Cosmetics on a premium line
Buyers of a premium laptop are pickier about how it looks. Deep scratches on the lid or a chipped corner cost a little more on a Predator than on a budget machine.
Wear and tear we are happy with.
We only buy working gaming laptops, in Excellent or Good condition. A Predator that will not boot, has a cracked or flickering screen, or crashes and shows artefacts under load is one we cannot take. Ordinary wear from being played on is a different thing, and none of the below rules yours out.
- WASD and arrow keys worn shiny, or with the legends half gone
- Scuffs and light scratches on the lid
- Palm rest worn smooth from long sessions
- A battery that holds less than it used to, as long as it is not swollen
- Sticker residue, or a vinyl skin still on the lid
- RAM or SSD upgraded from the factory spec
- Original box long since thrown away
- Scuffing around the rear exhaust vents

Most people move to a Predator with an RTX 5070 Ti. If you are staying with Acer, the step from a 4060 or 4070 Predator to the current top card is a smaller one with yours traded in.
