Sell your Dell XPS, the model number tells you most of it.

XPS 13, 15 or 17, 10th gen Intel and newer. The four-digit model number on the base usually gives the generation away.

That is all the calculator needs. It takes about a minute.

We buy Dell XPS laptops from Intel 10th gen onward, including Core Ultra. Older XPS models are below our cut-off. Unusually, the XPS model number is a reliable shortcut: an XPS 13 9300 is 10th gen, 9310 is 11th, 9315 and Plus 9320 are 12th, and the 9340 runs Core Ultra. The XPS 15 9500 is 10th gen through to the 9530 at 13th. An XPS 13 9380 or XPS 15 9570 is 8th gen, and we cannot buy those.

The XPS is Dell's flagship consumer line, with a machined aluminium body, a carbon-fibre or glass-fibre palm rest and some of the best screens Dell made. Second-hand buyers know the name and look for it specifically, which keeps a clean XPS in demand for longer than most consumer laptops.

Some XPS 13 models use Snapdragon chips rather than Intel. If yours does, the calculator will tell you whether we can price it, and you can WhatsApp us if you are unsure. We only buy working XPS laptops.

What affects your offer.

Model number, which means generation

On an XPS the model number maps closely to the generation, and the generation is what buyers pay for. A 9520 and a 9500 look almost identical and are two generations apart.

Screen: FHD, OLED or 4K

XPS laptops were sold with very different panels. The higher-resolution and OLED options add value when they are flawless. Any marks, dead touch areas or burn-in take it away.

Memory, often soldered

On the XPS 13 the memory is soldered and fixed for life, so 16GB or 32GB is worth more to a buyer than it would be on a laptop they could upgrade.

The palm rest finish

The soft-touch palm rest on many XPS models marks and shines with use. It is cosmetic and does not stop a sale, but a clean one keeps the laptop at Excellent.

Wear and tear we are happy with.

We only buy working Windows laptops. If your XPS is 10th gen or newer, boots properly and the screen, keyboard, trackpad and ports all work, this sort of wear just sets its grade.

  • Shiny or stained patches on the palm rest
  • Light scratches on the aluminium lid
  • Shiny keys
  • A battery that no longer lasts a working day
  • Missing USB-C charger or adapter
  • No box
  • A small dent on a corner that has not affected the screen

We buy Windows laptops working, in Excellent or Good condition. A cracked screen or a laptop that will not start is something we cannot buy for now. What we can do with a broken one.

Upgrading? Put it towards the new one.

Most people move to a current XPS or a MacBook Air. XPS owners who want the same build in a newer chip often look at the current XPS, and a fair number move across to a MacBook Air.

Dell XPS questions.

Yes, unfortunately. The 9380 runs an 8th gen Intel chip, and our cut-off for consumer laptops is 10th gen. The 7390 that followed it uses 10th gen, which we do buy.
