Five steps, and the waiting time on every one.
Most buyback sites go vague about what happens after they have your laptop, because that is where the price usually changes. Here is the whole process.
Get your offer
Choose MacBook, Windows or gaming, then the model, processor generation or graphics card, and the condition. No account, no obligation, nothing to install.
Mentioning wear or a fault will not stop the sale. The offer you see already takes it into account.
Accept, we book the courier
Free, tracked, anywhere in South Africa. 1 working day from Johannesburg or Pretoria, 2 working days from other major cities, up to 5 working days from remote areas.
You do not pay for the courier whether the sale goes ahead or not. There is no branch to visit: the warehouse is not open to the public, which is why the collection is free.
Back up, sign out, reset
Back up your files, sign out of your Apple ID or Microsoft account, then reset the laptop. Pack it with its charger, which matters more on a laptop than on anything else we buy.
A laptop still signed in or behind a BIOS password cannot be tested, so it cannot be paid for until you release it. A laptop still owned or managed by a company we cannot buy at all until it is fully released.
We test it
Arrival is confirmed within 24 working hours in Johannesburg and 48 working hours elsewhere. Testing takes 1-3 working days.
We test against exactly what you told us. If it matches, the offer stands. If it does not, we explain the difference, and you can take the revised offer or have the laptop couriered back free.
Get paid
Within 5 working days of your offer being confirmed, in the 4pm every working day payment run. Cash, 12% more as EpicDeals.co.za credit, or 10% more on consignment.
The payment clock starts when the offer is confirmed after testing, not when the courier collects. That is the part people are surprised by when nobody says it plainly.
When the offer does change.
Only when the laptop is not what was described. A machine declared as Good that arrives with a cracked hinge, or a ThinkPad described as 12th gen that turns out to be 10th.
When that happens you are told what the difference is and why, and you can take the revised offer or have the laptop couriered back free. What does not happen is a phone call inventing a fault to negotiate with.
It works the other way too. If something is worth more than you described, you get the higher number.
